Rainy Fridays call for online shopping, am I right or am I right?! I was just taking a look back at some of my recent Amazon purchases (several of which I've ordered in additional styles and colors!) and I thought I'd share some of my favorite purchases over the last few months with you!
First up is this floral boho dress! It's such a fun and easy dress for the summer. I don't know about y'all but I swear it gets too hot here and some days jeans and shorts just won't cut it. I love finding lightweight dress that will keep me cool and look cute. I do recommend sizing up in this dress because the chest may be a little snug if you don't.
This olive maxi dress is one of my favorite pieces in my closet. I already have it in three other colors and I'm seriously obsessed with it. It can be worn completely down or tied up on the side like the picture above and honestly, either way is adorable! It's a super easy piece and goes with literally anything! Jean jacket? Yep! Floral kimono? Yep! Fuzzy cardigan (not in the summer of course)? Yep! On it's own? Yep, still good to go!
Another great option for the summer is this sleeveless boho dress but make sure that you size up in this one! I ended up returning it because my true size was so tight on my chest that I couldn't handle it. By the time I returned and then went back in to purchase it in a larger size, they were sold out in this color. It's such a pretty dress for the summer and would be super easy for a weekend event!
Where are all of my big headed girls at? Seriously thought, it's so hard for me to fin a cute hat that fits this head! This is my absolute favorite brand/style because it fits my big head perfectly! They have several different styles to choose from but my favorites are either alcohol you later or out of office!
Another staple for me is a good kimono. I love layering (especially when I'm headed to the office) and kimonos are lightweight so I can continue layering all year long. This sheer leopard print kimono is one of my favorites and I always get a ton of compliments on it!
Are you an Amazon addict? If so, let me know what some of your favorite purchases are! I hope you guys have a great weekend!
"I'm coming to Nashville for a few days! What do you think I should do?"
I can't tell you how many times I've answered this question over the last two years and I'm finally putting pen to paper (or rather hand to keyboard) and rounding up the absolute must- do things in Nashville!
Of course, anyone who comes to Nashville has to visit Broadway, take in some country music, and eat some really good food! If you're looking for something a bit more relaxed, that you can do alone or with friends, you have to visit Board & Brush in Hendersonville for a DIY sign or doormat class! Taking a class at Board & Brush is the perfect way to do all the crafting you want without having to buy the supplies or make a mess at home.
The team at Board & Brush has everything you need to paint your sign or doormat and they're right there to help if you have any questions (or think you've messed up your paint!) along the way. Sure, there are DIY paint classes all over but the experience at Board & Brush is unmatched. They take the time to walk you through the process and actually teach you about the materials, not to mention they've got a great playlist for you!
If you're coming to Nashville you have to book a class, grab a bottle of wine, and pay a visit to the Board & Brush team!
I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you to you guys! I love the fact that you read this blog, watch my videos, and follow along with my life on Instagram. It's so cool being able to connect with people all over who love beauty and fashion as much as I do and I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate my birthday than celebrating all of you! With that in mind, I've pulled some of my absolute favorite items and put together a giveaway to share with one of you!
One of you will receive everything you see above (and a few other little items that aren't pictured here!) and I hope that you love each of these products as much as I do! It's super easy to enter- just make sure that you're following me on Instagram @callyguthrie and subscribed to my YouTube channel. Leave a comment on the video below and let me know how I can contact you if you're the winner!
Good luck to everyone who enters! I can't wait to hear how much you love these products!
I can’t believe another year has come and gone but as 2019 kicks off, I want to revisit my favorite products from 2018 that I’ll be carrying over into the new year! As you can imagine, being a beauty and fashion blogger brings a ton of products my way every year. I can’t tell you how many foundations I’ve tested or how many different accessories I’ve picked up over the last year, but I’ve narrowed it down to my absolute standout products and I’m so excited to share them with you
Henri Bendel convertible backpack is an absolute must if you’re someone who loves to travel or just enjoys exploring your city but like me, you carry way too much around with you. It can be worn 5 different ways, it’s full of pockets, and it’s super cute!
Madewell bandanas are an easy way to change up the look of any outfit! You can use them to dress up a casual tee and jeans or tie them on your bag for a fun change. They’re a really easy (and affordable) way to switch up your look!
Barefoot Dreams cardigans are THE BEST! They’re seriously the coziest cardigans you’ll find and that’s all you need to know about them!
Roan Boots are my new favs! They’re so comfy and they have that perfectly worn-in look that I’ve been loving lately.
Steve Madden booties in natural snake will completely transform your shoe game. I know what you’re thinking…snake print?! Yep! I might look back and regret this trend in a few years, but I am living for it right now!
Hanogram personalized phone cases are affordable and cute! I’m still obsessing over my super simple name case that you can see above. I’ve changed it out a couple of times, but I always go back to this one!
JORD wooden watches are a great addition to any minimalist watch lover’s collection. They’re unlike any other watches I have and I always get a ton of compliments when I wear mine!
Clean Origin Diamond Studs are perfect for any look! They have over 15 ready-to-ship options available in 14K white gold or yellow gold and they’re ready to ship today. Lab grown diamonds are environmentally friendly, ethically sourced, and a more affordable alternative to mined diamonds.
Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation is my number one foundation right now! From the moment I filmed my first impression video, I’ve been absolutely obsessed and no other foundation compares!
Catrice Liquid Camouflage Concealer might be the best drugstore concealer out there. It’s full coverage, doesn’t feel too heavy, there’s no flashback, and it’s under $10!
Too Faced Peach Perfect Powder can smooth out the finish of any foundation! It’s a really fine, loose powder that provides sheer coverage and doesn’t alter the color of your foundation in any way. It’s my go-to for every day.
Smashbox Cali Contour Palette has everything you need for a perfectly contoured, glowing face! It’s the only thing I’ve been carrying while traveling and it can be used to create your entire look.
Jaclyn Hill x Morphe...do I even need to say anything else? You already know Jaclyn’s got you covered with whatever eye look you had in mind!
LA Girl Glide Eyeliner is my go-to eyeliner from the drugstore. It’s super pigmented and lasts all day on my waterline so what more could I ask for?
Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara is my favorite mascara of all time. It’s replaced L’Oreal Voluminous as my holy grail mascara because it separates my lashes so well and provides the length and volume that we’re all looking for.
Anastasia Brow Wiz has been around for so long now but it’s still as good as it was when it hit the market! I’ve gone back and forth from pomades to pencils but I always come back to the Brow Wiz.
Kylie Velvet Lip has a great finish and lasts through eating and drinking! I can’t tell you how many liquid lips I’ve tried that were either too dry or didn’t last so I ended up reapplying constantly. This one wears well and feels great so it’s perfect for a girl on the go!
So that’s it! These are the things that I absolutely cannot start 2019 off without! There were a ton of products that I enjoyed this year, but these are the things that really stood out above the rest. What are some products that you have to carry into the new year?
I'm a sucker for a good pair of booties and I'm a firm believer that you can never have too many pairs so tonight I want to share four of my absolute favorites with you! From Steve Madden to Old Navy, there are options for every price point.
My Steve Madden booties in natural snake are perfect for spicing up any outfit. Whether you're going for a solid black look this holiday or you want to dress up your white sweater and jeans, you need these booties.
Old Navy has some seriously great booties for under $40 and that's pretty hard to beat if you ask me! I was looking for a pair of off-white booties and finally found them at Old Navy. They go with literally everything and they're so comfy!
Two staple booties that have been in my closet for years are these from Target and Aldo. No matter what your style is, you need a pair of tan booties and a pair of black booties in your closet at all times. They go with everything and can completely change the feel of your outfit. The great thing about looking for tan and black booties is that you can pretty much find these colors anywhere!
Let me know what shoes or booties you absolutely can't live without during this time of year!
Jackets are one of my absolute favorite parts about fall and winter! You can change the look of any outfit by simply switching jackets and leaving everything else the same. Today we're going to talk about my must have jackets for this time of year.
Two staples that you absolutely have to have in your wardrobe are a basic black leather jacket and of course, a denim jacket. A leather jacket is such an easy piece to dress up any outfit and if you're planning any holiday parties or nights out with your girls, you need to have a leather jacket on hand. My favorite faux-leather jacket is from Target so it's affordable and cute! Denim jackets are also a great piece to have on hand this time of year. You can throw on your favorite tee and a denim jacket and you're good to go. Lucky always has a great selection of denim jackets so be sure to check them out if you're looking for one!
Military jackets are another style that I absolutely love for this time of year. Target is the place to go when you're looking for this style of jacket. Universal Threads and A New Day both have great options and of course, they're affordable which is a huge plus for me! I love a good bomber jacket and recently found a long-line bomber jacket from Madewell that I've been loving. You get the casual look of a bomber jacket with a cozier fit that's perfect for this time of year.
If you're in the market for another great jacket, I hope this helps you! Let me know what style jacket you absolutely can't live with out!
It's that time of year again! Time to start shopping for all of your friends and family and I'm here to help with my 2018 gift guide. I'll break my recommendations down by category and I hope this list helps make your shopping easier!
Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Vault Collection- This one is an easy pick for any makeup lover in your life! Jacyln Hill created four absolutely beautiful (and travel friendly!) palettes with Morphe that will complete any makeup collection.
Makeup Brush Set- A good brush set can completely change your makeup game. If you're looking for an affordable option, Real Techniques might be the set for you! If you're looking to splurge on a set, head over to Sephora and put one together.
Clinique High Lash, Bye Lash- This set makes a great stocking stuffer! With the much loved take off the day cleansing balm and some of my favorite makeup wipes of all time, these are two great stocking items!
Kylie Lip Kits- I mean hello...we all know that Kylie is killing the lip kit game and who doesn't want one (or ten) of everyone's favorite lip products?
Londontown Nail Polish - My absolute favorite nail polish brand has to be on this list! With beautiful colors and a top coat that seriously does not chip, Londontown is a no-brainer for any nail lover on your holiday list. You can also use my code "callyguthrie" to save 25% if you want to save a little extra for more gifts!
Madewell Bandanas- One of my favorite accessories right now are bandanas and Madewell has super cute and affordable options!
Free People Adella Bralette- Y'all already know. Everyone is loving this FP bralette lately and I can promise you, the hype is well deserved.
Madewell The Simple Pouch Belt Bag- Need a gift for your girl who is always on the go? This belt bag is under $60 and it's the perfect size for any girl who likes to explore the city without having to carry around a big bag!
Barefoot Dreams Cozy Chic Throw Blanket- I don't go anywhere overnight without my Barefoot Dreams blanket. Seriously. Whether it's one night or one week, it's going with me. If we're being honest, I have three in my apartment so I know I never have to go without it.
Antica Farmacista Diffuser (Santorini)- Need to shop for someone who loves a good smelling home but isn't crazy about lighting candles every night? Antica Farmacista diffusers are a great alternative and Santorini is THE BEST scent available!
Slip Silk Pillowcase- A great gift for anyone on your list. They'll love the luxurious feel of Slip pillowcases and will be thankful for your gift for years to come.
Amazon Alexa- I'm obsessed with Alexa, y'all. I used to poke fun at my friends who had Alexa in their house and thought I'd never use it...then I got one. I talk to her every single day. I ask questions, I play music for the dogs while I'm gone to work, I set reminders. If you want to win Secret Santa this year, consider an Alexa.
So that's it! I hope this gift guide helps you with your holiday shopping this year. Be sure to let me know what you've got on your list this Christmas and what you're planning on giving to your friends and family!
Whether you need one really great gift or several smaller gifts for all of your friends, Violet + Brooks has you covered. They're my go-to shop when I need beautiful gifts but want to keep things simple and order from one place. Not only are they one of my favorite things, they're one of Oprah's favorite things too! If you love all things feminine and vintage, VB is about to change your accessory game. From earrings to pins to wristlets and more, there's something for everyone on your list- including you!
First things first, we have to talk about their packaging. From the velvet pouches to the softest pink boxes, every item arrived ready to be gifted- no wrapping necessary! I love the fact that I can order a couple of Boxed Crystal Letter Scatter Pins or an Earring Gift Quint for one of my coworkers and they arrive ready to go for the holidays!
Everything on their site is so dainty and feminine and is sure to be a hit with everyone on your list. They don't just have great products though, they're a great company too! Violet + Brooks donates 5% of all profits to The Covenant House, an organization that provides housing and supportive services to youth facing homelessness in our country. I love aligning myself with companies who care about the same causes I do and I'm so happy that VB is one of those!
The VB In A Word Bracelet Clutch is a cute and functional. I have way too many clutches that I just don't use because they either don't hold everything I need or there's no good way to carry them but you won't have either of those problems here. Add a whimsical feel to any outfit with your favorite clutch (they even have one that says mom if you're shopping for your favorite lady!)
So head on over to Violet + Brooks and be sure to let me know which products you're sending to your friends and family this year!
When I pictured my life, I never once imagined that I'd be 26 and dealing with the loss of someone who raised me. I'm one of those lucky kids who was blessed with 4 parents and 8 grandparents and a small army of siblings. I never thought of Mike as just my mom's husband or Becky as just my dad's wife, they've always been my parents, no question about it.
Here's the thing about losing someone you love, it sucks. You experience pain like you've never known and you feel like the world is crashing down on you. Your heart hurts. Your mind wanders. Your life changes. You question everything around you. All you want to know is why.
Why him? Why this way? Why did he have to hurt? Why didn't anything help? Why?
It's so easy to ask why but the thing is, we'll never know the answer to that question and being angry and asking why isn't going to make him better. Here's what we can do- we can continue to show him how much he's loved throughout his final days, we can surround ourselves with this great village of people who share our love for him, and we can thank God for every moment that we were given with him.
When you want to ask God why He's taking someone you love, try not to question His plan. We don't know the reason and we likely wouldn't understand it if we did. Instead, be thankful for the time that you were given and make the most of every moment you have with your loved ones. Seek comfort from those who love you and know that your loved one will soon be free of the pain of this world. Trust me, I know firsthand that you're hurting and you just want them to be okay. You know that they won't be in pain anymore but it doesn't make letting them go any easier.
It's hard and it hurts like hell but you'll get through it, right? I don't think this is something that you can ever get over but I like to think that you eventually learn to live with it. Take a little time for yourself and then slip back into your normal routine. Go about your life and know that you've got another angel watching your every move. Look for those little signs that they're there and hold on tight to every memory that you have.
I can only assume that you're here because you either know me (and in turn likely know Mike) or because you're also struggling with the loss of one of your parents. Please know that you are not alone. My heart is broken and I'm asking the same questions you are. I hope the pain you're feeling starts to fade quickly and that you learn how to live with such a great loss soon.
Mike, I love you and I couldn't have asked for a better bonus dad than you. I'm so thankful that you happened into my life 15 years ago and I've loved every moment of it. You worked hard every day to give all of us kids the life that we wanted and we are who we are thanks to you. Thank you for loving us and loving mom in all that you did. You're one of a kind, captain, and you'll be in our hearts as long as we live.
I just got back from a few days in Laguna Beach, California and I loved the charm of this little beach town. I'm used to beach towns in the gulf and this one was very different. There was a carefree attitude throughout the town that you could feel everywhere you went. If you know me, you know that I'm looking for the best places to eat and shop while I travel so let's talk about them! If you want to watch my vlog and see a little more of what we did, feel free to head down to the bottom of this post for the video!
The Shop Laguna Beach- the cutest little boutique in town! They had such unique pieces and reasonable prices and I'll definitely be shopping online from Nashville. Of all the boutiques we visited, this one was my absolute favorite!
Sound Spectrum- my favorite stop of the trip! We walked by Sound Spectrum a couple of times before we finally ventured in and I'm so happy that we did! The front room was full of records and the walls were lined with paintings by local artists while the back room was wall to wall band tees- some old, some new, some custom distressed, all perfection. I walked out with several shirts that I've worn way too many times since getting back to Nashville!
Ruby's Diner- the experience at Ruby's is really the best part! There are classic cars parked out front and the waiters will give you all the 50s feels. We passed on the 50s style bar or a corner booth downstairs to give the patio a shot. We enjoyed a great burger (and one of the best chocolate milkshakes I've ever had) all while taking in a gorgeous ocean view!
Gina's Pizza- does anyone know if Gina's will deliver? Possibly to Nashville? Seriously y'all, this was the best pizza I've ever had! Of course I went with the simple build your own option so I could have just sausage and cheese but it was seriously SO good! I would pay them good money to send those babies across the US to me!
Hi friends! I'm Cally, an Arkansas native living in Nashville, TN. Here's a look inside my life, posts about products I love and probably a few too many Friends quotes!
