If you're anything like me, packing can become stressful and complicated quickly. Growing up with six siblings, space was always limited and I was the queen of overpacking. As I've gotten older, I've made it a goal to travel only with my carry-on and to only take items that I know I'll wear. I'm preparing to leave for Boston on Tuesday so I figured I'd share my packing tips with all of you. If you're looking for simple, white luggage that doesn't look dirty after your first trip, check here! I'm loyal to CALPAK for life after this set!
1. If you don't love it, don't pack it. Seriously. I can't tell you how many times I've packed items that were cute and trendy but weren't pieces that I truly loved and they ended up sitting in the hotel for the entire duration of the trip, only to be folded back up, unworn, and carried home. If you only pack pieces that you know you love, you'll be less likely to get to your destination and feel like you're out of options after 3 days.
2. Stick to a color scheme that you're comfortable with and try not to step out of it. I know this sounds basic and possibly a little boring (we're all thinking about Instagram photos, right?) but I promise you, it's for the best. Personally, I like black and other neutral shades so I typically stick to black, gray, and white while I travel.
3. Do not pack all of your shoes. It's a struggle, I know. I try to limit my shoes to 3 pairs but also make sure to focus on comfort when choosing which ones get to go. I always take a pair of sneakers because chances are, I'll be in the hotel gym or taking a run every day. Be practical when making your shoe selections. Are you going to be doing a lot of site seeing or walking? Pick flats. Your feet will thank you.
I'm going to break my packing list down by category so that it's easy to follow if you decided to give my capsule travel wardrobe a try! I'll link my favorite items as I add them so you can find affordable options in time for your next trip.
Basic tanks are a must for any trip, especially if you're unsure about what type of weather you're headed into. The Old Navy Luxe Tanks are my favorite tanks and you can grab them now for under $10! I have multiple colors and both necklines and I promise, you'll love the fit.
I'm also a HUGE fan of the Old Navy Luxe Tees and the way that they fit. Again with the whole multiple colors thing (I know, I have a problem), you seriously can't beat them!
I always travel with two pairs of jeans, one light wash and one dark wash. For light wash jeans, I'm a big fan of the Universal Threads line at Target. The fit is great and they're under $30 so it really doesn't get much better than that! Now for my dark wash jeans, I'm pretty loyal to Express Jean Leggings and often opt for the distressed look. Everything is 40% off at Express right now for Labor Day so if you've been eyeing something, now is the time to get it!
Black leggings are another staple for me when traveling but definitely not a thin, cotton pair. I tend to go for Victoria's Secret Sport leggings because they're a great material and they hold everything in which I know we can all appreciate!
I definitely recommend taking along a lightweight jacket or vest. I typically go for the utility jacket look because it goes with any neutral color and they tend to have a lot of pockets which absolutely come in handy while you're out and about. My favorite options are both from Target so they're affordable and good quality! My go-to vest can be found here and my absolute favorite style of jacket can be found here.
Another thing to consider is packing a neutral cardigan or kimono. It's always a good idea to have extra options for layering so you really can't go wrong here. I don't have one to share but I'd recommend sticking to cardigans that you're comfortable in. Avoid the ones that you find yourself constantly adjusting while you wear. Remember, we're packing for comfort and simplicity here.
Dresses are so easy and can be worn so many different ways. I love packing basic tshirt dresses because you can dress them up or down depending on what you need. Again, some of my favorites are the Old Navy Jersey Knit Dresses because they're comfortable and affordable (they're all 50% off right now). They also have a tank version which you can find here.
I know I didn't list out my shoes but like I mentioned earlier, pack for comfort. You want to wear shoes that you know you can walk all day in because chances are, you'll be on your feet most of your trip. Take a pair of sneakers and then pick out two pairs that don't hurt your feet and you'll be good to go!
So there you have it! That's my go-to packing list when I'm headed off for a few days. I get it, overpacking it so easy and you probably think you'll wear it all but trust me, you won't. Stick to really basic and simple pieces that you can style different ways and you'll feel much better about packing- plus it makes unpacking super easy!

Y’all. I cannot contain my excitement. I’ve been waiting to write this from the moment that Jaclyn Hill announced her latest collaboration with Morphe. The Vault Collection is made up of four palettes, containing ten shades each, that did not make the cut for the ever-so-popular Jaclyn Hill x Morphe palette. If you have it and you love it, you basically have to pick up the Vault Collection and that’s all there is to it.
I was unable to be online when the collection launched (thanks to my 8-5) so I had to make an ULTA run and pick them up. I missed out on the Armed and Gorgeous palette but today, we’re going to dive into Ring the Alarm, Bling Boss, and Dark Magic. If you’re looking for swatches, eye looks, and honest thoughts from someone who purchased the palettes with their own money, you’re in the right place!
First things first, I want you to know that I LOVE the original Jacyln Hill x Morphe palette and my only complaint is the fact that it’s just too big to travel with. The Vault Collection is made up of smaller, sleeker palettes that are much more travel friendly than the original. Thanks to the size of the new palettes, we can now take Jaclyn’s highly pigmented and seriously gorgeous shadows anywhere we go!

Now if you want to see the looks I create with these palettes, head on over to my YouTube channel where I’ll be featuring a different palette each week for the next three weeks. We’re starting with Ring the Alarm this week and I’ll walk you through the super simple eye look that I’ve been wearing way too much lately. I get a lot of questions about how I curl my hair, what products I use, how I get it to stay, etc. so today, we're going to talk about it! My hair routine is SUPER low-key and if we're being honest, I only wash it every 4-5 days. For me, dirty hair styles better than clean hair so I'll typically let it go on day one and then curl it for day two. The Drybar Wrap Party Curling Wand is hands down the best tool I've found. Seriously, my curls last for days and I LOVE the way they look. I've linked everything I use on my hair here so it's super easy to shop!
You only need three products to achieve my curls:
You guys. I cannot believe that I am where I am and I owe it all to you.
I love sharing my life here on the blog, on YouTube and on Instagram. More than sharing my life, I love getting to know all of you. I've developed friendships online that I wouldn't trade for the world. It's crazy to look through my conversations and think that if I'd never posted a picture or recorded a video, I wouldn't know all of you. So, from the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you for your constant support of me and all that I do.
As a way to say thank you, I've put together a small giveaway that will run for the next 2 weeks. Entering to win is SO easy. All you have to do is follow me on Instagram and subscribe to my YouTube channel. Click the video below for all the details and to get entered!
