What is it exactly that separates a successful fashion business from an unsuccessful one? How can one company skyrocket and another fail? It's simple really; it's all about how your story resonates with consumers. It's all about...marketing. Before the Internet and social media, brands had to rely on TV and print ads to help share their story. Today, they have the chance to tell their own story and interact with consumers in a whole new way.
Where do you start? You have to define your brand before you can do anything. Be able to tell consumers what your brand is and what your brand is not. Give a simple description, define your market, and know exactly who you want to be your customer.
The Four P's of Marketing:
The fashion product is more than just what consumers need; it's what consumers don't know that they need yet. There are countless products in the fashion world and you need to have the one that consumers truly need.
The price is more than just a nominal value. Sure consumers are going to pay attention to that little number on the price tag but it is about so much more than that. Price is about the value that a consumer attributes to a certain item. If you provide that piece that your consumer didn't realize her closet was missing, you provide something of great value.
The place that you choose to sell can have a huge influence on your business. Doing your research is important so that you know where your business will be successful. Whether you choose to sell online or not, it is still important to have an online presence, whether it is through Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram so jump on the social media wagon and start sharing your photos!
The promotion of your brand is what has to take place in order to be successful. In our digital world it is important to promote your brand using different platforms and social media must be one of them. People love a heartwarming story and if you can share how your brand got here in a way that consumers will remember, you will already be a step ahead.
Now go out there and get ready to share your story!
As a twenty-something female, I cannot talk about fall without talking about makeup. I'm pretty sure that it really would be impossible for me to do. To go along with the must-have fashion pieces from last week, there are a few makeup items that are must-haves as well.
No makeup-loving girl's fall wardrobe is complete without her go-to dark lipstick. Whether you love deep purples or deep reds, dark lips are a must for fall. Looking through my collection, trying to decide which ones were my favorites, I realized that I have too many...no wait; you can never have too many, right? For higher end options, I have to talk about the obvious pick- MAC. If you prefer deep purples, Rebel is your color and if you prefer deep reds, Diva is your color. If you just love lipstick, buy them both! Life is short and I think you should have them! For drugstore options, Revlon is where it's at. My top two are probably Mink, a nice deep brown and Plum Velour, a great deep plum.
The other must-have item on my list and probably your list as well. It's completely different during the summer when the easy going, beachy look is in but when fall rolls around, the eyeliner comes on. I have struggled to find the absolute perfect eyeliner for me, but I have found some good ones along the way! For the past few years I have found myself reach for Maybelline's Gel Eyeliner because it's easy to use and stays in place all day but I also love their Line Stiletto because it's perfect for a really precise wing! Now I typically don't splurge for higher end eyeliners because I feel like I get the same results from the drugstore but I do have a weakness for the NARS Larger Than Life eye pencil!
I use many of the same products year round and just adjust the color to the season but dark lips and winged eyeliner hold a special place in my heart and in my fall/winter routine. I would love to hear what your must-have products for fall are so leave a comment here or come on over to Pinterest and pin about makeup with me!
Fall is probably my favorite season when it comes to fashion. I love the plaid, sweaters, and boots that make their way into all of our closets this time of year. If you've been flipping through fashion magazines (Elle anyone?) or scrolling through Pinterest then you have most likely seen articles and pictures of fall trends for this year. I want to share a few of the essential pieces that I have seen so far this season.
The first thing we have to talk about is faux fur. Whether you choose a faux fur vest or jacket, you can throw on some jeans and booties and be good to go. If you recall back to New York Fashion Week in February, fur was named one of the biggest trends for this season.
Just like every year, we are seeing plaid all over the place. I always end up at American Eagle when looking for plaid shirts. AE is a great option for me because they have different styles of button downs, a variety of colors, and affordable prices.
Shift dresses are an absolute must have for any season in my opinion. The classic silhouette looks great on everyone and they are so versatile and easy. I love the fact that I can dress them up and wear them to work or dress them down to go out to dinner with friends.
Ankle booties. Need I say more? They are by far the most popular style of shoe right now and everywhere I turn, I see them. Ankle booties are easy to style and go with just about anything. I love the simplicity and style and I hope they're here to stay!
Last but not least is my personal favorite trend for this season...high-waisted, flare jeans. Not only does the high-waisted aspect help elongate your legs but you can add heels which will make you look even taller. I secretly love the '70s and was so excited to see flare jeans back in stores!
I would love to hear what items you're loving this season- make sure to leave a comment and let me know what your essentials are!
