Whether you need one really great gift or several smaller gifts for all of your friends, Violet + Brooks has you covered. They're my go-to shop when I need beautiful gifts but want to keep things simple and order from one place. Not only are they one of my favorite things, they're one of Oprah's favorite things too! If you love all things feminine and vintage, VB is about to change your accessory game. From earrings to pins to wristlets and more, there's something for everyone on your list- including you!
First things first, we have to talk about their packaging. From the velvet pouches to the softest pink boxes, every item arrived ready to be gifted- no wrapping necessary! I love the fact that I can order a couple of Boxed Crystal Letter Scatter Pins or an Earring Gift Quint for one of my coworkers and they arrive ready to go for the holidays!
Everything on their site is so dainty and feminine and is sure to be a hit with everyone on your list. They don't just have great products though, they're a great company too! Violet + Brooks donates 5% of all profits to The Covenant House, an organization that provides housing and supportive services to youth facing homelessness in our country. I love aligning myself with companies who care about the same causes I do and I'm so happy that VB is one of those!
The VB In A Word Bracelet Clutch is a cute and functional. I have way too many clutches that I just don't use because they either don't hold everything I need or there's no good way to carry them but you won't have either of those problems here. Add a whimsical feel to any outfit with your favorite clutch (they even have one that says mom if you're shopping for your favorite lady!)
So head on over to Violet + Brooks and be sure to let me know which products you're sending to your friends and family this year!
When I pictured my life, I never once imagined that I'd be 26 and dealing with the loss of someone who raised me. I'm one of those lucky kids who was blessed with 4 parents and 8 grandparents and a small army of siblings. I never thought of Mike as just my mom's husband or Becky as just my dad's wife, they've always been my parents, no question about it.
Here's the thing about losing someone you love, it sucks. You experience pain like you've never known and you feel like the world is crashing down on you. Your heart hurts. Your mind wanders. Your life changes. You question everything around you. All you want to know is why.
Why him? Why this way? Why did he have to hurt? Why didn't anything help? Why?
It's so easy to ask why but the thing is, we'll never know the answer to that question and being angry and asking why isn't going to make him better. Here's what we can do- we can continue to show him how much he's loved throughout his final days, we can surround ourselves with this great village of people who share our love for him, and we can thank God for every moment that we were given with him.
When you want to ask God why He's taking someone you love, try not to question His plan. We don't know the reason and we likely wouldn't understand it if we did. Instead, be thankful for the time that you were given and make the most of every moment you have with your loved ones. Seek comfort from those who love you and know that your loved one will soon be free of the pain of this world. Trust me, I know firsthand that you're hurting and you just want them to be okay. You know that they won't be in pain anymore but it doesn't make letting them go any easier.
It's hard and it hurts like hell but you'll get through it, right? I don't think this is something that you can ever get over but I like to think that you eventually learn to live with it. Take a little time for yourself and then slip back into your normal routine. Go about your life and know that you've got another angel watching your every move. Look for those little signs that they're there and hold on tight to every memory that you have.
I can only assume that you're here because you either know me (and in turn likely know Mike) or because you're also struggling with the loss of one of your parents. Please know that you are not alone. My heart is broken and I'm asking the same questions you are. I hope the pain you're feeling starts to fade quickly and that you learn how to live with such a great loss soon.
Mike, I love you and I couldn't have asked for a better bonus dad than you. I'm so thankful that you happened into my life 15 years ago and I've loved every moment of it. You worked hard every day to give all of us kids the life that we wanted and we are who we are thanks to you. Thank you for loving us and loving mom in all that you did. You're one of a kind, captain, and you'll be in our hearts as long as we live.
I just got back from a few days in Laguna Beach, California and I loved the charm of this little beach town. I'm used to beach towns in the gulf and this one was very different. There was a carefree attitude throughout the town that you could feel everywhere you went. If you know me, you know that I'm looking for the best places to eat and shop while I travel so let's talk about them! If you want to watch my vlog and see a little more of what we did, feel free to head down to the bottom of this post for the video!
The Shop Laguna Beach- the cutest little boutique in town! They had such unique pieces and reasonable prices and I'll definitely be shopping online from Nashville. Of all the boutiques we visited, this one was my absolute favorite!
Sound Spectrum- my favorite stop of the trip! We walked by Sound Spectrum a couple of times before we finally ventured in and I'm so happy that we did! The front room was full of records and the walls were lined with paintings by local artists while the back room was wall to wall band tees- some old, some new, some custom distressed, all perfection. I walked out with several shirts that I've worn way too many times since getting back to Nashville!
Ruby's Diner- the experience at Ruby's is really the best part! There are classic cars parked out front and the waiters will give you all the 50s feels. We passed on the 50s style bar or a corner booth downstairs to give the patio a shot. We enjoyed a great burger (and one of the best chocolate milkshakes I've ever had) all while taking in a gorgeous ocean view!
Gina's Pizza- does anyone know if Gina's will deliver? Possibly to Nashville? Seriously y'all, this was the best pizza I've ever had! Of course I went with the simple build your own option so I could have just sausage and cheese but it was seriously SO good! I would pay them good money to send those babies across the US to me!
Hi friends! I'm Cally, an Arkansas native living in Nashville, TN. Here's a look inside my life, posts about products I love and probably a few too many Friends quotes!
